what is the calligraphy box?
The Calligraphy Box is a monthly subscription box perfect for anyone wanting to learn and improve their calligraphy from home. We do include some products, but our main focus is to give you the lessons and instruction that will help you improve.
what will i learn?
We teach pointed pen calligraphy including Copperplate, a range of modern calligraphy styles, and Spencerian Script. When you subscribe you will begin with the beginners box (if you select that you are a beginner) which will teach you everything you need to know to get started - proper positioning, adding a releasing pressure, nib prep etc. You will also practice with the modern calligraphy alphabet. The following five boxes will take you on a deep dive into our core box lessons - Copperplate techniques, Copperplate lowercase letters, spacing and connections, improving precision and consistency and Copperplate capitals. After this, you will join our advanced group receiving boxes on topics such as envelope calligraphy, flourishing above and below the baseline, artwork creation, Spencerian, calligraphic drawing, borders, business cursive, brush calligraphy and more. We have over three years of boxes to keep you improving if you want to keep learning with us! Our workbooks and video lessons and designed to give you lots of inspiration and everything you need to see your calligraphy go from strength to strength every month.
can i pause my subscription?
Yes! We give the option for all subscriptions to be paused for one or two months at a time. Just pop us an email at hello@thecalligrpahybox.com and we will pause it for you.
i am a leftie, can I still learn calligraphy?
Yes! We have lots of left-handed writers who are subscribers. In our beginners lesson we include lots of extra information and examples for left-handed positioning and we show this in detail in the beginners video lesson too.
I AM A BEGINNER, IS THE CALLIGRAPHY BOX SUITABLE FOR ME?
Yes. its perfect for you. If you are a beginner and have never tried calligraphy before, the first box you will receive will include everything you need to learn the fundamentals including positioning, basic strokes and pressure movements. Find out more details and subscribe by clicking here.
I AM NOT A BEGINNER, IS THE CALLIGRAPHY BOX SUITABLE FOR ME?
Yes. its perfect for you too. If you select that you are a non beginner at the checkout, then you will automatically miss out the beginner's box and will be sent the next box instead, jumping straight into Copperplate Calligraphy. Find out more details and subscribe by clicking here.
HOW LONG WILL THE VIDEO LESSON BE AVAILABLE FOR?
Each monthly video lesson is between 1 and 2 hours long and will be available to replay inside our online community. You will have access to the videos while your subscription is active or paused. If you cancel your subscription, then you will no longer have access to the video lessons.
CAN I GIFT A SUBSCRIPTION BOX?
Yes you can! Visit the Gift A Subscription page to find out more details and set up a gift. At the checkout click 'This is a gift' and you can add a gift message which will be printed and added into the first box. The first box that will be sent out is the beginner's box. However, if the person you are gifting the subscription to is not a beginner, simply send us a message and let us know and we will send a different box instead.
When are the payments taken?
Your first payment will be taken on the day that you subscribe. Your monthly payment will then be taken on the 1st of each month for that month's box.
HOW DO I CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION?
We are sad to see you go, but you are able to cancel your subscription by logging in to your account. To cancel your subscription go to the 'Subscriptions' page and then click 'Manage'. At the bottom on the page click 'Subscription settings'. You can then choose to either pause or cancel your subscription.
Please note, if you have selected a subscription that gives you a lower price in exchange for a length of commitment, then you will not be able to cancel until your commitment period is complete. However, you can still pause for one or two months at a time.
DO SUBSCRIPTIONS AUTOMATICALLY RENEW?
All our subscriptions automatically renew unless paused or cancelled. The only exceptions are our gift subscriptions which are paid for upfront. You can read more about this on our Terms and Conditions Page.
I ENTERED MY INFORMATION INCORRECTLY, CAN I CHANGE IT?
You can change this within your account. Please log in by clicking here. Alternatively, you can email us at hello@thecalligraphybox.com and we will change your details for you.
I'VE CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION, BUT I WANT TO REACTIVATE, HOW DO I DO THIS?
We would love to have your re-join us! Simply send us an email at hello@thecalligraphybox.com and we will restart it for you on your chosen date. Let us know that you are reactivating and we will give you a discount!
DO YOU SHIP WORLDWIDE?
Yes, we do! Delivery charges will apply for destinations outside the UK, prices are shown at the checkout.
HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST PER BOX?
UK & USA delivery is free.
International delivery varies per country and is sent via Royal Mail Tracked. The delivery window is 3-5 days (Europe) and 5-10 days (worldwide). However please note that each country may add additional time for customs checks.
Europe - £10 per box
South America / Mexico / Canada - £14 per box
Africa / Middle East / Asia - £14 per box
Australia / New Zealand - £16.50 per box
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY SUBSCRIPTION BOX?
Your first box will be shipped to you within a couple of days of your subscription being set up. Following boxes are then always sent within the first full week of the month and your subscription will renew on the 1st of each month. Please read more about cut-off times on our Terms and Conditions Page.
THERE IS SOMETHING MISSING/ DAMAGED IN MY BOX, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
We are sorry there is something missing/damaged in your box. Please get in touch with us here and we will get it sorted for you.
CAN I RETURN MY BOX?
Yes you can, please see how to complete your return on our Terms and Conditions Page under 'Returns'.
WILL THE SUBSCRIPTION BOX FIT THROUGH MY LETTERBOX?
If you letter box slot is 5cm in height then it will fit, if not and you are not in at the time of delivery, it will be taken to your nearest post office for you to pick up.
WHAT IS REFER A FRIEND?
If you pass on your referral link to a friend and they use it to subscribe, you both will get £5 off! And better yet, you can use your referral link as often as you like! You can access your referral link in your account. Give this unique link to anyone who may be interested in subscribing.
